Dr. Assal Aslani
Dr. Aslani traveled from Iran to Los Angeles as a refugee toddler. As a first-generation immigrant, she was raised in a low income, high crime neighborhood that offered little hope. She chose education as her way out, working hard to go to college and dental school to become a dentist.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology at the University of California, San Diego. Achieving academic excellence during her undergraduate program, she was then accepted into the nation’s leading dental program at the University of Michigan where she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Aslani completed her residency serving veterans at the San Diego VA Medical Center. Dr. Aslani also became a National Health Service Corps Provider and a Dental Director in a non-profit health organization serving the underserved in the Pacific Northwest.
Her passion for dentistry is driven by a passion for people. She loves getting to know people and building relationships. And hopefully along the way, helping them refresh, restore, and revive their smiles. It’s her way of giving the best version of herself to those she gets the opportunity to serve.
She loves live performances of all kinds, including sports and entertainment. She also enjoys time with family, dancing, skateboarding, being outdoors (camping, beaching), and hanging out with her rescued asthmatic cat named Yeti.
Annette
Born and raised in New York, NY. Graduated from NYC Technical College with an associate degree in dental hygiene in 1996. Annette has a Bachelor's Degree in Art History. She enjoys staying active through hiking, walking her dog, and traveling.
Maureen
A graduate of west Los Angeles College with an associate degree in dental hygiene, Maureen graduated in 2002 cum laude. Her education includes clinical studies taking place at UCLA Dental School and Los Angeles Veterans Dental Facilities. She is grateful to enjoy her career and considers herself fortunate to be a part of the team here with Dr. Aslani. She enjoys the desert lifestyle of hiking, biking, and of course, all the great restaurants!
Monica
Monica was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. With almost 30 years of experience, Monica is very knowledgable of the dental industry. She started off as a dental assistant moving to front and back office through the years experiencing all aspects of the dental field. Building relationships with her patients and help people making a chance in their life is the reason why she believes dentistry is her passion. She is very fortunate to be here and share her future growth here at Portola Dental Group. In her spare time, she loves making memories with her children being a mother of six.
Marrissa
Born and raised in the Coachella Valley, Marrissa knows all facets of desert living. She has worked in various dental specialties for 20+ years and enjoys all aspects of dentistry. Having a memorable voice and presence, she prides herself on exceptional customer care and strives to help nervous patient’s become believers in pain free dentistry. In her free time, Marrissa enjoys gardening and spending time making new memories with her family.
Judy
Judy is always smiling and loves to ensure that her patients are comfortable and happy. She has an infectious personality and laugh! She has worked in the dental industry for 20+ years and caters to those who may be nervous or skittish about dentistry. She enjoys gardening, creating new inventions, and spending time with family.
Jazmin
Grew up in Coachella Valley. Recently graduated from a local Dental Assisting school program. She is eager to learn!

Hello, I am the worst dental patient of all time, an absolute nightmare to deal with. With those credentials, I’m here to tell you all that Portola is absolutely amazing and takes wonderful care of me and my entire family. They know I have major dental anxiety and go to great lengths to make sure I’m comfortable and cared for. When I needed a cavity filled and freaked out, they introduced me to Dr. Aslani. Dr. Aslani is some kind of Dental Whisperer because I trusted her right away and was willing to give her a chance. She gave me a dang neck rub while the numbing stuff did its thing, talked me through it all, and called the next day to make sure I was OK. She is an absolute GEM and a really skilled dentist. I don’t even like having my teeth cleaned, but Annette takes good care of me, and Audra is always kind and takes care of me even when I don’t answer the phone. I hate dentists, but I love Portola. If I could give them six stars I would. Instead, I’ll thank them here. Thank you, Portola!!
